Madison, WI - The Bloomington Thunder closed out the first half of the season before winter break with a win over the other United States Hockey League expansion franchise, the Madison Capitols, by the final score of 4-2. The team grabbed the win and now moves into fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 11-11-3 and 25 points as they leapfrog the Chicago Steel and Madison Capitols in the standings

The Caps got the early lead in the game as Daniel Willett scored a power play goal at 8:36 of the first period. The goal snuck through screens in front of the Thunder net and made it 1-0. Bloomington would pick up the pace in the second half of the period and eventually grabbed the equalizer. On their first power play opportunity, Alec Mehr would shoot the puck on the off pad of goaltender Garrett Metcalf who gave up a juicy rebound to the Thunder’s Van Barr. Barr roofed it over the netminder and made it a tie game at 14:51 of the first. Read More...
