Entering week four of the USHL, the Bloomington Thunder were in second place in the Eastern Conference with seven points, trailing Muskegon by only one.  Coming off an overtime loss to Youngstown, the team was primed for a rebound performance against the Chicago Steel and Omaha Lancers on Friday and Saturday.
October 17th at Chicago- The Thunder entered the game 1-0-0 versus the Steel on the season with a 3-2 win back on October 3rd in Bensenville, IL.  The rivals clashed right from the drop of the puck and it was Chicago converting for the first goal of the game for the second time in the head to head match up.  Bloomington answered back with two goals of their own.  Logan Lambdin connected on a second opportunity from the low slot to tie the game at one.  The climactic ending of the period came when Jake Slaker tipped a shot from Vince Pedrie (Quinnipiac University) with only one second to play, making it 2-1 heading to the intermission.  Matt Mendelson (Penn State University) would also net his first goal of the season in the third period.  The Thunder power play had some great opportunities in the game, but came up empty on four chances.  Read More...
